Toshi Yano to replace Fiery bassist

The Fiery Furnaces' Toshi Yano will be filling in for Franz Ferdinand bassist Bob Hardy on the first two dates of Franz Ferdinand's US Tour (Detroit on December 1 and Philadelphia on December 2). Bob was hospitalized in Osaka at the end of November, then moved to Tokyo for treatment with gastroenteritis, a viral infection of the digestive tract usually known as the stomach flu.

New Fiery EP out in January

Just in from Rough Trade America: a new Fiery Furnaces EP will be released on January 11th, 2005 in the US. The tracklisting is as follows:

2. Here Comes the Summer
3. Evergreen
4. Sing For Me
5. Tropical Ice-Land
6. Duffer St. George
7. Smelling Cigarettes
8. Cousin Chris
9. Sweet Spots
10. Sullivans Social Slub

According to Rough Trade, an online promotion for the EP is being planned through their website, as well as nationwide distribution of the EP to music retailers. The tracks 'Here Comes The Summer' and 'Sullivans Social Club' have previously been unreleased.

Under The Radar Article Online

The Fiery Furnaces are featured in the current issue of Under The Radar Magazine, titled 'The Protest Issue'. As you may have read on this page previously, the issue deals witth the intersection of politics and music A picture of The Fierys holding a protest sign published in the magazine was auctioned some time ago (see earlier news).
